I came upon your blog doing research on the Pledge of Allegiance. I wrote a book on the history of the Pledge, and as you likely know, The Youth's Companion is where the Pledge of Allegiance was first published (Sept., 1892). It was part of a huge nationwide celebration on the 400th discovery of America. The library at the University of Mississippi has one of the most complete collections of the Youth's Companions in the country. At any rate, I thought you might be interested.
